At Durham Dental Group, we know a toothache can interrupt your already busy schedule. When you come to our office in need of a tooth extraction, we take care of you as quickly and efficiently as possible without sacrificing your comfort. We don’t want you to wait to take care of an aching tooth!
Do I Need A Tooth Extraction?
Remember to contact our office if you experience any of the following symptoms:
- A severe toothache.
- Abscess or swelling around a tooth.
- A tooth that has turned a gray color.
- An exam will help us determine how we can provide the best treatment for you to become pain-free.
Our team will assess any issues with your teeth to see if you need an extraction. If you need to have a tooth extracted, we will numb your mouth so you don’t experience any pain during your procedure.
Take Care of Yourself
Following a tooth extraction, you should avoid drinking through straws or using tobacco products of any kind. Our dental team will also recommend a soft foods diet for the first few days, and make sure not to eat or drink foods that are too hot.
Taking care of yourself will help prevent complications like dry socket. If the blood clot is dislodged, bone is exposed to the air and can cause discomfort and pain. If you think you might have dry socket, call us so we can help treat the problem.
Use an ice pack or cold compress over the affected area to reduce swelling. We can show you how to clean your teeth around the extraction too, so you don’t disturb the healing of your gums.
